Position SummaryThe position is responsible for providing care to maintain the health and well-being of dogs and cats under the direction of the Veterinarian and within the legal parameters of licensure.
Essential Responsibilities1.
Responsible for providing routine animal care to PAWS dogs and cats and recognize animals exhibiting signs of illness or abnormalities and taking appropriate action2.
Provide supportive care including physical exams, monitoring dogs during and after procedures, restraining patients for exams and preforming routine dentals.
3.
Provide emergency animal care assistance (including) performing emergency c-sections, CPR, bandaging, splints, emergency medications, and knowledge of quarantine procedures for various infectious diseases4.
Responsible for administering medications, drugs, and treatments indicated by veterinarian.
5.
Responsible for maintaining inventory, equipment, accurate records, and a clean and organized treatment and examination area.
6.
Preform diagnostics such as proper positioning for various radiographs, including OFA clearances, lab prep and reading fecal floats, cytology, and urinalysis.
7.
Communicate and educate patient information to clients.
8.
Ability to demonstrate and follow correct procedures in catheter placement and phlebotomy.
9.

Refers unique questions/conditions to immediate supervisorSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNo supervisory responsibilitiesEducation & Experience Possess an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree and licensure in Veterinary Technician/technologist medicine; or equivalent training and experience Ability to learn all areas of canine reproduction such as estrus detection, breeding, whelping, neonatal/orphan care, nutrition, coordination of postnatal care Possess proper and positive dog handling experience with ability to move dogs from kennel area to designated veterinary areas and back in safe, controlled, acceptable manner Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Possess outstanding interpersonal skills and bedside manner for all customers, co-workers, and volunteers Ability to be on call to triage for emergencies Core competencies Interpersonal:

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
